Washington D.C.- World War II Memorial

A neat aspect about this trip that we took was that it took place over the Memorial Day weekend (and following couple days).  Other than the fourth of July, I can't think of a more patriotic time to be in the city.  This showed the most (and rightfully so) at the World War II Memorial.  Roses, flags, banners, wreaths, and everything else patriotic were found shoved in a bunch of places around the memorial.  Shrines to fallen family members were set up near the state they hailed from, and the memories associated left for others to see and appreciate.  It was really humbling to see what those who lost a loved one laid down in memorial decades later.  The mood of the area was rather quiet, especially quite for such a big city.  People would come to look and think, hopefully these pictures help you to do the same.DSC_4960DSC_4963BWDSC_4969DSC_4970DSC_4973DSC_5274DSC_5296Creative Commons LicenseThis work by JD Maloney is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
