Washington D.C.- Lincoln Memorial

My favorite Memorial on the National Mall is the Lincoln Memorial.  It's rather ironic, as I grew up in the "Land of Lincoln" and got to see all the Lincoln things growing up.  While all the monuments are beautiful and each bring something unique that the others don't I just love the beauty of the Lincoln Memorial.  While photographing the inside of the memorial a park ranger asked if he could see the picture that I had just taken.  I had been working on a tripod, and basically had the thing pointed at the ceiling.  Like the floor, the ceiling is made of marble, just thinner so as the sun goes overhead and sets, the marble glows this yellow-orange color, which is truly beautiful.  Apparently, according to the park ranger, not as many people look up to see this part of the memorial.  Who can blame them though, I mean who doesn't want to stare at a giant Abe Lincoln.DSC_4794DSC_4798DSC_4801DSC_4805DSC_4813DSC_4830DSC_4833DSC_4868DSC_4977DSC_4987BWDSC_5155BWDSC_5195DSC_5250Creative Commons LicenseThis work by JD Maloney is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
