Downtown Chicago | Travel Photography
A bit over a week ago I (JD) got to go up to Chicago for work and while I was there I got to go out during the early morning hours and the late night hours to grab some photos of the downtown area of my favorite city to photograph in! There is so much architecture down there that is so awesome to take pictures of, I always enjoy heading there to take photos and walk around. This trip was my first chance to work with our new 24mm f/3.5 PC-E (Tilt-Shift) lens! A lens like this is used to help straighten lines with architecture, and also allows users to create a miniaturization effect on what they are taking pictures of ( I tried this technique out on the "L" a bit). It was so exciting to get to try out and use this lens, it came from FedEx just a couple hours before I had to leave town so it worked out perfectly. While I'm still getting used to using it properly (it's manual focus, and manual aperture setting), I had so much fun taking it for a spin around downtown Chicago, I can't think of a better place to give a lens such as this a first go. Hope you enjoy the photos! This work by JD Maloney is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
