Bryce Canyon Nat. Park | Travel Photography
This will begin the first in a series of blog posts about our trip out to the southwestern United States. There is so much to go and see in that part of the country we definitely couldn't do everything we wanted to, but we made a good fist pass at the area and had a great time. We spent the trip camping out at various National Parks and major sites, and enjoying the elevations of northern Arizona and southern Utah. The first main stop on our trip was to Bryce Canyon National Park in southern Utah. We've wanted to see this canyon for a good while after seeing pictures of it online for so many years. We even got lucky enough while were there that it snowed for us one afternoon, while not a large dumping of snow, we were able to see the canyon get covered in a light dusting of white powder that lasted for a couple hours before it got burned off by the afternoon sun.It also gets really cold in the evenings at Bryce, with lows down in the mid-twenties even during the middle of May. With an elevation of around 8400 feet, this makes sense, we definitely aren't on the plains of the midwest anymore. This definitely made camping more of a challenge, but it was fun to get to experience some cold weather camping. This work by JD Maloney is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
