Cornerstone Festival 2012- Timbre
One of the last shows that I got to see was a perform was a band called Timbre (which is pronounced as though the "i" was an "a"). The set was unique from the aspect that it incorporated an instrument that had not yet been played at the festival…even you we'd seen things as far out as electric bagpipes from Iona. The lead player and singer from the band played the harp, and not the kind you can carry around with you, it was the real deal.To add to all of that, we found she (and the band) had just spent the last 24 hours traveling from a tour in Russia to make it to Cornerstone to play. Now that is dedication I don't care what you think. Listening to the harp was a refreshing change and the music was great. I liked the blending of the harp with the cello and the rhythm the drums provided. When everything was added together it made for a great combination that I had never heard before in my life. Fortunately there was a small gap in time at the end and they let them play another song in addition to what they had planned for their set and it was a great ending to what had been a great show. This work by JD Maloney is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
