St. Louis Arch in the Fall
After a failed attempt at remembering my battery on a trip to St. Louis, I was finally able to make it back to the arch this fall to grab some photos. In the end it turned out better as the trees were in a lot more color on my second trip. This was the first time I got to photograph the arch with my new camera. Not only did my new camera give me a lot more resolution in my photos, it also is full frame which allowed me to get incredibly wide photos of the arch. Before I went to St. Louis, I looked up satellite imagery of the area and realized that there were two reflecting pools located near the arch. I had known there were ponds there but had never really paid attention to them. They ended up becoming the prime focus of my day there, though it was fun to get some other shots too.Photographing the arch at night is one of my favorite things to do. The lights from the city and the lights below illuminate it in such a way that make it extremely beautiful. Though it was not cloudy during the day portion of my shooting, in the evening it clouded up a bit and you could see the sillouette of the arch on the clouds overhead. What made the whole trip was that Hilarie got to join me for dinner between and walked with me while I took photos at night. It's real nice to have someone to talk to while taking pictures and we got a chance to enjoy a rather peaceful evening at the Arch together. This work by JD Maloney is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
