Following Vermont we headed down to Connecticut to spend a few days exploring Hartford and the rest of the state. Our hotel was positioned near the middle of the state, which gave us good access to get to the things we wanted to see. Hartford was very close and we got to drive into the city on a few different locations. I heard some people talk about how Hartford is the insurance capital of the US (and we wouldn’t doubt it based on how many we saw downtown). There’s even the insurance company called “The Hartford”, which is we also saw while we were there. Hartford also had one of the most ornate state capital buildings we’d seen on the trip. The gold dome and the intricate stonework was really impressive.Hartford also had a beautiful skyline that could be viewed from the east side of the river. While it seems like it took them forever to get all its city streetlights and bridge lights turned on, the view was well worth the wait and you’ll see some of those and a panorama of the skyline below. While we didn’t have our gigapan head with us, we did it the old fashioned way and it turned out just fine. This work by JD Maloney is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
